The opening game of the best 2 out of 3 final of the 2018 Arizona District #6 Little League Baseball Championship was tonight. Undefeated Arcadia Little League (ARLL: 6-0) played Mountain View Little League (MVLL; 5-1). The final score of 6-1 with ARLL on top was much closer than one might expect. The score was ARLL leading 2-1 entering the bottom of the 5th inning whereupon, ARLL scored 4 runs and extended its league to 6-1.

The evening began with the resumption of the suspended game from the night before between McDowell Mountain Little League (MMLL) and Mountain View Little League (MVLL). The game was suspended because of lights in the bottom of the 8th inning with MMLL at bat with one out and player on first base and MVLL leading 8-7. After just 13 pitches, MVLL emerged with the 8-7 win.
MMLL and MVLL then played their second semi-final game. Again, the two teams demonstrated how evenly matched they were. After 5 complete innings the score was tied at 5. In the top of the 6th inning, MVLL scored 5 runs and led 10-5. MMLL responded with 5 runs of their own and the game was tied again, this time at 10 after 6 innings. MVLL scored two runs in top of the 7th inning, but MMLL was unable to answer. Final score, MVLL 12 and MMLL 10. MVLL wins the series 2 very close games to none.
Arcadia Little League (ARLL) was pushed to 6 innings for only the second time in the tournament. However, it was not enough as ARLL beat North Scottsdale Little League (NSLL) 10-4. ARLL swept the series 2 games to none.
With both semi-final series completed, ARLL and MVLL will begin the Finals, which is also best 2 out of 3, on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 7:00 PM.

The best 2 out of 3 semi-final rounds began tonight. The first game featured the #1 seed and undefeated Arcadia Little League (ARLL) versus the #4 seed North Scottsdale Little League (NSLL). ARLL won 11-0. The two teams play again Friday evening at 7:30 PM.
The second semi-final had the two teams who were tied for second place; McDowell Mountain Little League (MMLL) and Mountain View Little League (MVLL). And how appropriate is it that in their first head-to-head match-up, that the game went into extra innings and had to be suspended due to lights. The game will resume on Friday at 5:00 PM before their already scheduled second game at 5:30 PM.

The three games tonight determined the #2 to #4 seeds for the semi-final round. Mountain View Little League (MVLL) beat East Scottsdale Little League 11-9 giving MVLL a 3-1 record and a Runs Allowed Ratio (RAR) of 0.833. McDowell Mountain Little League (MMLL), defeated Fountain Hills Little League 11-1 which resulted in MMLL having a 3-1 record and a RAR of 0.833. MVLL and MMLL were tied with 3 wins and just 1 loss. The first tie-breaker is head-to head results (which team beat the other team), but MVLL and MMLL did not happen to play each other. The next tie-breaker is RAR and again they were tied. To break the tie would require official intervention from the International Head Quarters of Little League Baseball and Softball. As both teams were now going to move on to the semi-final round to play each other and home/visitor is determined by a coin flip, there was no need for an official determination from Williamsport. Better yet, in the best 2 out of 3 semi-final series, we will find out ON THE FIELD, who is the better team.
The fourth and final seed came down to a game between North Scottsdale Little League (NSLL) and McCormick Ranch Little League (MRLL). The winner would move on. On this evening, NSLL prevailed with a 15-0 victory. Now NSLL will play the #1 seed and undefeated Arcadia Little League.

Arcadia Little League (ARLL), with its 11-1 win over McCormick Ranch, finished pool play with a perfect 4-0 record. This record has earned them the number 1 seed (S1). The remaining seeds will be determined on Wednesday evening, 06/27/18.
The early game saw McDowell Mountain Little League (MMLL) beat East Scottsdale Little League 23-8 and announce their intention for one of the remaining seeds. The late game was a nail biter despite what the final score of 8-3 might suggest. Mountain View Little League (MVLL) and Fountain Hills Little League (FHLL) were tied at 3 going into the 6th inning. MVLL scored 5 runs in the top of 6th.
An updated bracket can be downloaded below. As we look ahead to the semi-final round, should both semi-finals be 2-game sweeps, the final round will start the next day (Saturday, June 30th).
